Job Description:
The Purchase Officer is responsible for effectively managing the procurement process from identifying needs to finalizing purchases. This role requires strong negotiation skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of supply chain management. The Purchase Officer will work closely with various departments to ensure timely delivery of goods and services while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vendor Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and select reliable vendors based on quality, price, and delivery terms.
- Negotiate favorable contracts and pricing with suppliers.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues.
- Purchase Requisition Processing:
- Review and process purchase requisitions from departments.
- Verify the accuracy of requisitions and obtain necessary approvals.
- Create purchase orders and send them to vendors.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock availability.
- Place purchase orders to replenish inventory as needed.
- Coordinate with the warehouse team for timely receipt and storage of goods.
- Cost Control:
- Analyze purchasing data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Implement strategies to reduce procurement costs without compromising quality.
- Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant procurement policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of all purchasing activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing or procurement.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in using purchasing software and tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Skills (Preferred):
- Knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices.
- Experience with international procurement.
- Certification in purchasing or supply chain management.
