Job Description:

The Purchase Officer is responsible for effectively managing the procurement process from identifying needs to finalizing purchases. This role requires strong negotiation skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of supply chain management. The Purchase Officer will work closely with various departments to ensure timely delivery of goods and services while maintaining cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vendor Management:
  • Identify, evaluate, and select reliable vendors based on quality, price, and delivery terms.
  • Negotiate favorable contracts and pricing with suppliers.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues.
  • Purchase Requisition Processing:
  • Review and process purchase requisitions from departments.
  • Verify the accuracy of requisitions and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Create purchase orders and send them to vendors.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock availability.
  • Place purchase orders to replenish inventory as needed.
  • Coordinate with the warehouse team for timely receipt and storage of goods.
  • Cost Control:
  • Analyze purchasing data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Implement strategies to reduce procurement costs without compromising quality.
  • Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant procurement policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all purchasing activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing or procurement.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using purchasing software and tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Additional Skills (Preferred):

  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices.
  • Experience with international procurement.
  • Certification in purchasing or supply chain management.
